All classes will be held at
17 McLachlan St, Fortitude Valley QLD
17 McLachlan St, Fortitude Valley
We’ll be in the large upstairs room. It has a beautiful polished timber floor with a buttery smooth finish you will absolutely love to shuffle on (please make sure the soles of your shoes are carefully brushed free of any grit to help keep it lovely).
The venue is air-conditioned, and conveniently located for good public transport options. It is also near many good food options!
Car parking in the area is fairly limited. A paid “Secure Parking – 388 Brunswick Street” is located directly behind the venue (entrance on Berwick Street) with a weekend parking rate, although larger cars may find it a bit tight. There are some other parking facilities in the area and some on-street parking (check signage carefully to avoid a fine). Consider carpooling or using a ride service.
All classes will have a single mixed group of intermediate-and-above students.
We will do our best to maintain the follow/lead ratios in class. We usually do a pretty good job, however, we can’t make any guarantees that ratios will be perfectly even.
The group will cover the following important aspects of Balboa across the weekend:
Rhythm – Flow – Musicality – Texture & Styling – Fancy Moves
Before registering, please check the assumed knowledge list of moves and video demo below to be sure you are comfortable with them. They are the minimum level of moves that the instructors will expect people to be competent at dancing, so they can build on them over the weekend.
If you have any questions or concerns about this list, please don’t hesitate to contact us or talk to your teacher. If there is just one thing on the list you’re struggling with, don’t let it put you off, we’ve been there too.
